Mrs. Burkett is a wife of a coach, guardian of a teen, guide to outstanding CCHS learners, owner of two dogs, and enthusiast of technology.
She loves watching students transform into life-long learners and effective communicators. This is her second year at Clay-Chalkville High School and her seventh year as an educator. After graduating from Hackleburg High School, she attended the University of West Alabama to obtain a B.A. in English with a minor in Journalism. She was awarded a graduate teaching assistantship at Mississippi State University, where she taught as she earned her M.A. in English. After teaching Composition I, Composition II, and American Literature as an adjunct instructor at Holmes Community College, she could not imagine doing anything other than teaching; therefore, she attended the University of Montevallo to obtain an M.Ed. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. Her learning continues through regular research, reading, and taking secondary education courses through the University of Alabama. |
